Family Dentistry Q & A

Which family dentistry services does Dr. Lee offer?

Dr. Lee is a highly-trained and skilled dentist and oral surgeon. He offers all of the dentistry services you and your family may need, including:

  • General dentistry
  • Dental cleanings
  • Routine dental exams
  • Fillings
  • Tooth extractions
  • Crowns and bridges
  • Root canals
  • Cosmetic dentistry
  • Veneers
  • Implants
  • Dentures

What should I expect during a routine dental exam?

At a routine dental visit, Dr. Lee, a dental hygienist, or dental assistant will first take X-rays if they're needed. Then, you’ll then receive a thorough teeth cleaning where the hygienist will carefully scrape each tooth below the gum line, removing any hard-to-reach tartar and plaque. They’ll then polish and floss your teeth, leaving your mouth feeling clean and bright.

Following your cleaning, Dr. Lee will review your most recent X-rays and examine each tooth for signs of damage or decay. If further care, such as a filling, is needed, his team will schedule a follow-up appointment for you.

When should my child start getting dental exams?

Your child’s baby teeth start erupting between 6-12 months of age. To make sure your child gets the care they need, Dr. Lee recommends scheduling their first visit before their first birthday. From that point, Dr. Lee will likely suggest coming in two times per year for cleanings and checkups.

Will I need to see Dr. Lee more than twice per year?

For most people who practice good oral hygiene, two annual visits are enough to maintain good oral health. You may need more frequent visits if you:

  • Smoke
  • Are pregnant
  • Have diabetes
  • Have gum disease
  • Have a weakened immune system
  • Regularly get cavities
  • Have substantial plaque buildup

In these cases, you may need to see Dr. Lee for checkups and cleanings three or four times per year.
